Pronoun

A word which is used instead of noun is called pronoun. Examples: He, she, It, I, we, you, they, etc.

Types of Pronoun

Following are given some important types of pronoun.

  1. Subject Pronoun
  2. Object Pronoun
  3. Possessive Pronoun
  4. Reflective Pronoun
  5. Indefinite Pronoun
  6. Demonstrative Pronoun
  7. Interrogative Pronoun

  1. Subject pronoun
  2. The pronoun which is used in place of subject is called subject pronoun.
    Examples:

    • He listened to me.
    • She enjoyed the music.
    • They worked hard.
    • They worked hard.
    • You went.

  3. Object pronoun
  4. The pronoun which is used in place of object is called object pronoun.
    Examples:

    • She teaches me.

  • They talked to us.
  • He scolded her.
  • The boys met him.
  • We respect you.
  • Possessive pronoun
  • The pronoun which shows possession is called possessive pronoun
    Examples:

    • His

    chair.
  • Her
  • class.
  • My
  • room
  • your
  • cup.
  • Our
  • country.
  • The room is mine.
  • The purs is hers.
  • Reflexive pronoun
  • When the subject and object are the same in a sentence reflexive pronoun is used.
    Examples:

    • We Congratulated Our selves on our victory.
    • She promised herself.
    • I saw myself

    in the mirror.

  • Indefinite Pronoun
  • A pronoun that does not refer to any specific noun is called indefinite pronoun.
    Examples:
    Anyone, anybody, anything, anywhere, everyone everybody, everybody, everywhere

  • Demonstrative Pronoun
  • Demonstrative pronoun are used to point to specific thíngs

    Examples:

    • This is my favourlte shirt.
    • This is your cup.
    • I need to fix these

    problems.

  • Interrogative pronoun
  • Interrogative pronouns are used to ask questions. The five interrogative pronouns are what, which, who, whom, whose.
    Examples:

    • What

    is your friend's name?
  • Which
  • colour do you prefer?
  • Who
  • was driving the car?
  • Whom
  • do you live with?
  • Whose
  • book is that?
